The Lore of AFish

Some might be a little confused as to why I am so fervently interested in EVE. It all started when I fell in love with a mobile game (that’s right, I said MOBILE GAME) called Nova Empire that changed my life. It wasn’t always my intention to become so heavily invested in this virtual world and the community we built, but anyone who plays these types of games, understands that they can become more than a game.

Games like EVE Online and EVE Echoes become the ultimate hobby; a unique kingdom of limitless potential.

We built an incredible community of mobile gamers who shared this passion. We studied ship designs, ran tests, built teams and theorized strategies. We had politicians on missions in discord, spies lurking and content creators not just making videos… but stories. And of course, we lost battles…. but won wars. So naturally – after the strategy of our beloved game was diluted and our community was beyond frustrated – I wrote a letter, Dear CCP please don’t make another pay to win game. The letter highlights how our community was let down by a development company that slowly removed the strategy out of a strategy-based game, but it’s also how we stumbled upon EVE Echoes, a joint venture from CCP Games and NetEase. Once I had played a game like this, I was hooked on the experience.

It sent me on a mission to find a reputable gaming company that would really focus on the true authentic gaming experience. I noticed many EVE Online Veterans were skeptical of EVE Echoes, but it didn’t deter me. Many veteran players seemed resistant to the mobile revolution. So…of course, I decided to write them a letter too because Mobile Gamers Might Be More Dedicated Than They Realize.

In efforts to learn more about the community EVE had to offer, I visited Fan Fest so I could meet the alliance responsible for the game our community had long anticipated. I connected with the existing EVE Online community and the communities of those who had played mobile space MMO’s but were disappointed by their development teams lack of interest in the community. Of course, after visiting fan fest - I couldn’t help but share another blog post on what it feels like when you join the EVE community.
