Doubt about the Comrade

The Gods are very angry

For the man did not obey

He saw the winds, unfavorable

But sailed anyway

He drank a bottle to himself

Left nothing for the crew

The Gods despised his selfishness

And thought what they could do

Could they rid the sea of fish

Could they sink the boat

They threw a storm and still

The man remained afloat

He told the Gods to trust him

He said he had a plan

But the Gods were enraged

They would never trust this man

This man remained secretive

The crew began its doubt

But they could not journey home

For the food was already out

The man had stuffed his face

He was certain he’d be fine

As he drank another bottle

Of his secret stash of wine

The crew spoke out against him

Mutiny began

They threw him overboard

Never asking him his plan

He washed ashore an island

To the place he sought to find

Where natives only trusted those

Who were drunk off of their wine

He had been to this place before

And realized its curse

It makes one never listen

And never reimburse

If the man is doubted

The wine will not be shared

For it only trusts those

Who live freely and do not care

He journeyed here to stop the spell

So he could share again

And listen to the Gods

So he wouldn’t meet his end

But soon moments passed

And he realized the truth

That everyone is selfish

And there’s nothing we can do

We can live and learn and see

And trust friends just so

And whether they have plans or not

We do not need to know

The island wasn’t cursed

It makes humans see

That when we doubt our comrades

They act selfishly
