CHAPTER 17: UPLOADED CONSCIOUSNESS

The evacuation order of the DEAD MEN was in effect. Many of the members were confused as to what was going on. The officers of DM were helping everyone make the transition. Hamstor had made contact of the OG alliance. Red and Hamstor had set up an emergency meeting with their leaders. Together they divulged the horrors of what was happening to their leader and the bomb that was strapped to the creature, Furlingus’s chest. The executive leadership of OG was quick to respond.

“Is there any chance we can salvage the current headquarters of DM?” Ares inquired. Ares was the commanding war chief of OG. He was seldom seen but his reputation was prominent.

“We aren’t sure of what we can salvage. All we know, is our leader is trouble and we need YOUR help!” Hamstor spoke in a direct and calm fashion. OG began to assemble their army. Ares launched a series of troops ready to hi jack the command from the terrorist known as Leatherface. Ares sent a transmission to Ragefish. The officers of OG waited while they worked with Hamstor and Redrum to find out what would happen next. They received a reply.

*Its not real*

They looked at one another in confusion. Clearly Leatherface had lost his fucking mind. He was responding to the wrist guard system on Ragefish. They sent another message over.

*We have reason to believe that Ragefish has committed treason against OG. As a willing ally, we are willing to help you in your mission to destroy DM*

“What if he kills her!” Hamstor cried out. He had concern that OG had their own political agenda to push but his old friend Bandobras had reassured him.

“Hamstor…I need you to trust us…we have your best interest at heart”. Bandobras and him had a long and connected past as though they were brothers. Hamstor nodded his head as he began to imagine Ragefish locked up. His number one goal was to get her free and make sure all DM members were safe. The team received a response from who they thought was Leatherface.

*The time is Nye! The world you have constructed is a lie. Do not try to resist. The woken are ready to release you from the prison you’ve been stuck in. The rise of Tyrfing is among you! Initiating code blue bomb. See you on the other side*

“Holy shit! This savage has lost his mind! Ares…we need to call off the troops! He’s going to blow the territory!” The OG officers sat there with Hamstor and Red as they looked at the footage of Furlingus.

“SHE’LL DIE!” Hamstor looked at Red intently. Red thought to himself and grabbed a nearby tablet.

“Not if I have anything to say about it!” Red began to hack the LARS AI he coded into her wrist guard. “Lars, I need to over right a few settings. Give me remote access to Ragefish’s wrist guard”.

Lars attempted to give access but the nanobots had overwritten a few commands he programmed.

*”I am unable to grant access. You must hook up a consciousness to have remote access”*

Hamstor looked at Red. What did that mean? Red knew exactly what it meant.

“We need to upload a consciousness! Follow me!” They both ran to a simulation training room. Red started turning on switches and lights. He put a large Helmut looking device over his head. While his body was being hooked up, Hamstor stood on standby to activate the machine. The device allowed his consciousness to be uploaded into the station AI. It had never been tested on a real human. Once his mind was uploaded, he could remotely access Ragefish’s wrist guard and untie her hands.

“I’m ready…” Red said mildly nervous. Hamstor hesitated. He looked at Red unsure of this plan. What would happen to his mind once he was uploaded? They had successfully transferred consciousness but were never able to retrieve them. Doing this, could be the end of Red.

“What if it doesn’t work?” Hamstor waited for a response from Red.

“It will. Do it.” Without any further delay, Hamstor flipped the switch and watched as an electrical surge emitted from the chair. Red’s mind was uploaded in seconds. Hamstor looked around as the lights flashed off then on again. Suddenly, a robotic like voice that sounded similar to Red spoke aloud.

*”It worked! I’ve been uploaded to the LARS mainframe. This is incredible. I’ve never felt anything like this before. I’ve found her wrist guard device. Before I go, I need you to promise me something…”*

“Anything… what do you need?” Hamstor listened as Red divulged specific instructions to him. The clock was ticking and there wasn’t much time. Hamstor gave Red his word then evacuated the last of the Dead men members to safety. He got in an escape pod and set his coordinates to the DM farming belt where they had safety station walls built to withstand mass space storms and blasts. He couldn’t help but think about Red’s last words. Hamstor knew it was his time to rise to the occasion. For Ragefish. For Red. And for the DEAD MEN.
